The short answer
Is there a Napa Valley Wine Academy classroom in New York or New Jersey?
Not at present. New York and New Jersey students take the WSET Level 1, 2 and 3 Awards in Wines online with Napa Valley Wine Academy, as live instructor-led cohorts or self-paced on-demand courses, and the qualification is identical to the classroom version. Every course includes the WSET study materials, exam registration and the exam fee.
Exams are the part that stays local. Levels 1 and 2 are examined online from home. The Level 3 exam is in person, and Jersey City, NJ is one of our eight US exam venues, with at least one sitting a quarter, so an online Level 3 student in the New York area sits the exam without leaving the region. If you want a classroom and a week in wine country, the Napa bootcamps are the route.

Best for: fitting study around an unpredictable schedule.
A week in Napa
BootcampsThe four-day WSET Level 2 Bootcamp with vineyard, winery and cooperage visits, the Level 3 Harvest Bootcamp (ten weeks online, then five days in Napa during harvest) and the Winemaker Bootcamp.
Best for: students who want the certificate and wine country in the same trip.

Where New York and New Jersey students sit their exams
Levels 1 and 2: online, from home, with remote invigilation, on a date you choose after the course. Level 3: in person, in Jersey City, NJ, one of the eight US venues where Napa Valley Wine Academy runs Level 3 sittings, with at least one sitting a quarter; the venue and dates for each sitting are on the Level 3 exam dates page. Level 4 Diploma: every unit examination is sat in Napa, California.

Studying WSET from New York and New Jersey
Do you run WSET classes in New York City or New Jersey?
Not at present. New York area students study online with live instructors, and sit the Level 3 exam in person in Jersey City. If a New York or New Jersey classroom cohort is scheduled it will appear in the listings and on this page.
Where do I sit the WSET Level 3 exam near New York?
In Jersey City, NJ, one of our eight US exam venues, with at least one sitting a quarter. The venue address and dates for each sitting are on the Level 3 exam dates page. Levels 1 and 2 are examined online from home.
Are the online webinars at times that work for the East Coast?
Each cohort listing shows its webinar day and time, and every webinar is recorded, so a session you miss is available the same day.
Can I complete WSET entirely online from New York?
Yes, at Levels 1 and 2: both the course and the exam are online. Level 3 is taught online with the in-person exam in Jersey City. The Level 4 Diploma is taught online with examinations in Napa. The WSET online wine courses page compares the formats.
Is an online WSET course the same qualification as a classroom one?
Yes. A WSET award is a single global qualification, set and graded to one standard, and your certificate does not record the format. Napa Valley Wine Academy is a WSET Approved Programme Provider in every format.
