COOKIE POLICY
Effective date: 08/26/2026 | Last updated: 08/27/2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Turicum LLC, doing business as Napa Valley Wine Academy (“NVWA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), uses cookies and similar technologies on napavalleywineacademy.com and our related online services (the “Services”). It supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more generally.
1. What these technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. We and our providers also use technologies that work in similar ways, including pixels and tracking tags, browser local storage and session storage, software development kits, server logs, and device or network signals. In this Policy we refer to all of them as “cookies.”
Cookies may be set by us (first-party) or by a provider whose technology we have added to the site (third-party). Some expire when you close your browser; others remain for a set period, which is listed for each item in the inventory at the end of this Policy.
2. Categories we use
Our cookie banner groups cookies into the four categories below. You can enable or disable each optional category at any time.
Strictly necessary. Required to operate the Services and to deliver functions you request. These include maintaining your session and cart, processing checkout and payments, saving your consent choices, protecting against fraud and automated abuse, load balancing, and security. These cannot be switched off.
Functional. Support enhanced features and personalization, such as remembering your language or region, live chat and customer support, appointment and event scheduling, saved preferences, and embedded media.
Performance. Help us understand how the Services are used so we can improve them — for example counting visits, identifying traffic sources, measuring page and course engagement, recording aggregated session behavior, monitoring site performance and errors, and testing alternative page designs.
Targeting. Used by us and our advertising partners to build a profile of your interests, recognize you across sites, devices, or connected-TV environments, deliver and retarget advertising, measure campaign performance, and match audiences. Some of this activity may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under U.S. state privacy laws.
3. Who sets cookies on our site
The providers below currently set or receive cookies and similar technologies through the Services. The complete, automatically maintained inventory — including each item’s name, provider, purpose category, and duration — appears at the end of this Policy.
Platform and operations. Shopify (ecommerce platform, cart, checkout, payments, security, and Shopify-native analytics), our course and learning platforms, and providers of hosting, content delivery, and site security including automated-traffic and bot protection.
Customer engagement and support. Klaviyo (email and SMS marketing, onsite forms, and profile identification), Gorgias (customer support and chat), scheduling and booking tools, loyalty and gift-card tools, and affiliate or referral tracking platforms.
Analytics and measurement. Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, Microsoft Clarity (session and interaction analytics), Parse.ly (content analytics), Datadog (site performance and error monitoring), and website testing and personalization tools used to compare page variations.
Advertising. Google Ads, Meta (delivered through the AdNabu app embed), Microsoft Advertising, TikTok, Vibe.co (connected-TV and OTT advertising, targeting, and measurement), and affiliate advertising platforms.
Identity resolution. Opensend, which may use scripts, pixels, APIs, device and network signals, or cookie-less matching to recognize certain U.S. visitors, provide email addresses or basic identifiers, and sync matched profiles to our marketing systems. We treat Opensend as a Targeting technology.
The specific technologies in use change as our tools change. The inventory below is regenerated by our consent platform and is the authoritative list.
4. Your choices
Cookie preference center. Use the “We respect your privacy” control that stays available on every page, or the link in our footer, to review categories and turn optional categories on or off. Your choice is stored in your browser and applies to that browser and device. Clearing your browser storage will clear the choice.
Where we ask before setting cookies. In regions where prior consent is required, optional cookies are not set until you choose. Elsewhere, including most of the United States, some optional cookies may be set when you first arrive; you can decline or withdraw at any time using the preference center, and we will stop setting them from that point forward.
Declining cookies is not the same as opting out of sale or sharing. If you want to exercise a right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, or of targeted advertising, under a U.S. state privacy law, please use Your Privacy Choices in addition to setting your cookie preferences. Both controls are available to you, and they do different things.
Browser and device controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, use a private browsing mode, or clear stored site data. Mobile operating systems offer advertising-identifier controls. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the Services from working.
Withdrawing consent does not delete data already collected. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information already held, see the rights section of our Privacy Policy.
5. Global Privacy Control and opt-out preference signals
We treat a recognized Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) or other legally valid opt-out preference signal as a request to opt out of sale or sharing for the browser or device that sends the signal and, where required and technically feasible, for a known consumer profile associated with that browser or device. You do not need to take any additional step for the signal to apply, though you may also use Your Privacy Choices if you wish.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no single accepted standard for interpreting this setting, we do not respond to it separately. We do respond to GPC and other opt-out preference signals as described above.
7. Industry and partner opt-outs
In addition to our controls, you may be able to limit interest-based advertising directly with the companies involved:
- Digital Advertising Alliance: optout.aboutads.info
- Network Advertising Initiative: optout.networkadvertising.org
- European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance: youronlinechoices.eu
- Google ad settings: adssettings.google.com, and Google Analytics opt-out: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Meta ad preferences: facebook.com/adpreferences
- Microsoft advertising opt-out: account.microsoft.com/privacy/ad-settings
These controls are provided by third parties, are specific to each browser or device, and may be reset if you clear your cookies.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our technologies, providers, or legal obligations change, and we will revise the “Last updated” date above. The inventory below is regenerated automatically and may change more frequently than the text of this Policy.
