Napa Valley Wine Academy is pleased to welcome Matthew Kaner, Los Angeles-based wine entrepreneur, wine content creator, and Rioja expert. Matthew has traveled to Rioja in the past decade to establish relationships with winemakers, study the terroir and seek out trends. His ability to weave storytelling with what’s happening on the ground and in the bodegas will make for an entertaining and super-informative hour spent learning about Spain’s best wine region – and one of the wine world’s top five.

A brief run-down of what you absolutely need to know regarding terroir, the Crianza system, blending (or not!) and Rioja since the 19th century will be folded into Matthew’s coverage of emerging styles, new grape varieties and the grower/winemaker perspective.
