SAFETY IS STILL OUR #1 PRIORITY
NVWA Safety Protocols August 2021 Update Napa Valley Wine Academy, in accordance with an updated Napa County Health Order dated August 5, 2021 mandates the wearing of masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status. In addition, the Napa Valley Wine Academy requires that any Bootcamp attendee acknowledges either of the following upon registration on day one of Bootcamp: Full vaccination status, via an electronic or paper copy of a Vaccine Record; or A negative Covid-19 test result dated no earlier than 3 days (72 hours) prior to the first day of Bootcamp. The following protocols must be acknowledged and accepted prior to attendance at a Napa Valley Wine Academy Bootcamp, including but not limited to the WSET Level 3 Bootcamp and the Harvest Experience Bootcamp. NVWA Bootcamp Safety Policy is outlined below: By stepping into the classroom, you agree:(1) that you are not experiencing COVID or COVID-like symptoms that day or in the 10 days prior to your first day of Bootcamp; (2) you have not been in contact in the last two weeks with anyone who has had COVID or COVID-like symptoms; (3) You are fully vaccinated and will bring proof with you for registration on Day One of your Bootcamp, or you will bring proof of a negative Covid-19 test result dated no earlier than 3 days prior to your first day of class; and (4) you acknowledge and agree to all of the following:
Currently, as of August 2021, and going forward until further official notice via a NVWA letter signed by the Vice President of Education, the wearing of masks indoors is mandatory for students and instructors at all times, whether fully vaccinated or not, including when entering the school building in Napa, or when stepping into the venue’s classroom for all other locations, and the following protocols must be followed in order to attend any portion of a NVWA Bootcamp. Details are provided here: Masks must remain on (covering mouth and nose) when walking about the classroom, hallways, or other shared spaces, even if getting up from the desk for a restroom or other break, or to dump a spittoon or spit cup. The only exception to this full-day mask requirement is when wines are being tasted. Students must be seated at their desk, and may remove their mask for each tasting exercise. Masks must be replaced properly (over mouth and nose) in-between each wine assessment. Masks must remain on during all Bootcamp visits, and only removed briefly to taste wines. Masks must be worn on NVWA-provided transportation to and from Bootcamp events. Additional protocols: Students, please bring your own water bottles, and bring a pen or pencil with you. We are not yet sharing these materials amongst students, although we will have back-up pencils if you forget! Registration NO longer requires a temperature check, and the instructor is NO longer required to wear a face shield when registering students (unless any instructor would like to utilize one). Of course, masks are still required by students and instructors during and after registration. Individual registration sheets will be provided to each student at their desk, so there will be no shared registration sheet. Instructors will continue to handle glassware with care by using hand-sanitizer before handling glassware, and repeating the use of sanitizer as necessary (ie after touching one’s face) Wine bottles will NOT be passed from student to student; the instructor will pour wine samples, and may ask students to step out of the room while wines are being poured. Disposable spit cups/spittoons will be provided to students. It is the responsibility of the student to dump their spitoons or spit cups throughout the day and to dispose of them as requested by their instructor at the end of the day. We ask all students and teachers to be vigilant with hand washing and/or the use of hand sanitizer. Students and instructors will continue to be vigilant when taking breaks and lunches. Avoid congregating in shared areas as much as possible. If lines form for restroom breaks, all parties will be vigilant in maintaining a 6 foot distance from one another. Thank you for accepting the NVWA Bootcamp Safety Policy which is outlined above. NOW that the protocols have been read and accepted, an amazing BOOTCAMP experience awaits you! We can’t wait to see you and take a deep dive into Napa Valley wine country – CHEERS!
