  • UPON REGISTRATION (within 30 minutes after) you will receive access, via an emailed link, to the first module of your online course which contains important information. Your study packet will be mailed to you within 5 days of registration.
  • COURSE START DATE is the date the full online course (all modules) is available to students. This is a self-paced course, accessible 24/7, with videos, interactive maps, activities, quizzes, and mock exams. 
  • WEBINARS are additional instructor-led learning tools that augment your study book and online course material and activities. See the WEBINAR tab in the first module of your online course for the webinar schedule. The first WEBINAR DATE is generally NOT the official COURSE START DATE. Webinars are taped and will will appear in your WEBINAR tab following each session. If you purchased a WINE KIT, your wine kit will arrive before your first WEBINAR DATE. If you did not purchase the wine kit, see the wine list in the first module of your course for wine recommendations (categories, not specific producers) you can purchase locally.
  • COMMUNICATE with your instructor and fellow students via (1) the webinars and (2) through an online GROUP which will appear on your dashboard, along with your online course, on the Course Start Date. The GROUP will be active during the five-week instructor-led portion of your course.

  1. What is the structure of the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines online course?

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines online course is a self-paced program accessible 24/7. It includes videos, interactive maps, activities, quizzes, and mock exams to enhance your learning experience. Additionally, the course features four (4) instructor-led 60-minute Zoom webinars; the dates for which can be found under the Webinar tab in the first module of your online course. If you purchased a Wine Kit, it will arrive before your First Webinar Date. 

  1. Are the live webinars an essential part of the course?

Yes, the webinars are integral to the online course and complement the textbooks. They include an orientation, lectures, and guided tasting sessions, and you can ask questions of your instructor. While they are not the full course in themselves, they are crucial for a comprehensive understanding of the curriculum. If you cannot attend the live sessions, all webinars are recorded and posted for later viewing.

  1. How can I communicate with the instructor and other students?

Interaction with the instructor and fellow students is facilitated through the Zoom Webinars and the Online GROUP Module. This interactive aspect is available during the five-week instructor-led portion of the course, enabling you to engage actively in your learning process.

  1. How long do I have access to the online course material?

After the instructor-led 5 weeks, you retain access to the online course for the remainder of the 12-month period. This extended access allows you to revisit and review the material at your own pace.

  1. When will I receive access to the online course after purchase?

You will receive email links to access the online course within 30 minutes of your purchase, ensuring a quick and seamless start to your learning journey.

  1. How and when will I receive the course textbooks and workbook?

Students located in the U.S. will receive the textbook and workbook within 5 days of purchase, ensuring you have the physical materials promptly. International students are provided with an online eBook version, making it accessible regardless of location.

  1. What about the wine kits for the course?

Wine kits are shipped out the week of the course start date and are scheduled to arrive before the first webinar. THE NITTY GRITTY

This is a five-week, self-paced course with a fixed start/end date. However you will have 12 months of access to the online learning material, providing you the flexibility to study wine in a way that fits your schedule.

The Level 2 Award in Wine Online class covers the same syllabus as the classroom course but through a supported and interactive Online Classroom, which allows you to study alongside your peers under the guidance of a dedicated educator.

You'll gain an understanding of the principal grape varieties grown and the different styles of wine produced around the world, as well as the production of sparkling and fortified wines.

The course explores the major grape varieties and important regions that define the world’s key wines in a structured and engaging format. You’ll learn about production, key labeling terminology, tasting techniques, and major classifications to help you identify wines with confidence.

To earn the WSET Level 2 Award Certificate in Wine, you will need to pass the exam with 50 multiple-choice questions. The proctored exam can be taken EITHER online or in-person within 12-months from the time of your enrollment at one of our school locations across the U.S.

During the online class, students will be taking part in 4 LIVE instructor-led guided wine tasting webinars and taught the WSET systematic approach to tasting wine. As you work through the online class, you will be asked to complete interactive learning assignments, complete tasting assignments, and submit your notes to the instructor for grading.

There is no previous certification needed to enroll in this course, but it is understood that you have a basic wine knowledge. 

Upon successful completion of this WSET Level 2 Certification course you will have gained:

  • Training in the broad range of wine knowledge which will help you in sales, hospitality, and commercial areas of the industry.
  • WSET Tutored tasting of wines.
  • Knowledge of the systematic approach to tasting that will allow you to access a wine's quality and price
  • Level 2 Award in Wine Certification from the WSET - which is a formal qualification in wine.

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wine Certificate online course follows a 5-week study program which includes 4 LIVE webinars and instructor support with set start and finish dates as follows:

  • Week 1 – Tasting, Pairing, Storage & Service of Wine
  • Week 2 – Factors Affecting Wine Style & Quality
  • Week 3 – Red Wines
  • Week 4 – White Wines
  • Week 5 – Sparkling & Fortified Wines & Review

The online class includes:

  • 4 LIVE webinars and instructor support
  • 20+ recorded video lectures with interactive activities
  • A quiz with mock exam questions is provided at the end of each week for students to practice for the exam and assess their understanding of that week's topics.
  • Tasting activities to help familiarize students with the Systematic Approach to Tasting at the Intermediate level.
  • 50 question mock-exam to prepare you for the actual in-person exam.

SCHEDULE: Our unique, online program is largely self-paced and accessible 24/7 with videos, hands-on experiments, online activities and interactive quizzes led by WSET certified educators from our award-winning school. The only ‘scheduled’ lessons are the live online (Zoom) webinars and homework submission and feedback during the 5-week instructor-led course.

These hour-long lessons (via Zoom) are live tasting webinars and lectures set up by your WSET instructor. If you miss the scheduled sessions, watch the recorded version posted in the “WEBINAR” module in the online course.

COMMUNICATE and taste wine with your instructor during your five-week course and interact with your fellow students through discussions and our online community.

ACCESS the course material for 12 months so you can keep studying following the instructor-led portion till your selected exam date.

STUDY MATERIALS:  The WSET Level 2 Wines course is supported by a study guide and workbook.  We ship out hard copy study packs to students within the continental US upon enrollment.  International students are given access to an eBook online version via the WSET Global online portal (not downloadable or printable). Ebooks are accessible for 1 year through WSET Global portal.

We are happy to accommodate students wanting hardcopy options via reliable shipping channels with proven addresses. All additional fees are payable by the student and receipt only guaranteed through the Shipper (UPS, DHL, FEDEX). Contact us with a preferred shipper and address if you wish to purchase a hardcopy version.  We will vet shipping prices and time estimates best suited for delivery.

RECOMMENDED STUDY HOURS needed to pass the exam with distinction is 28 hours (17 Guided Learning Hours and 11 hours of Private Study).

EXAM is timed with 50 multiple choice questions and can be done online.  Multiple exam dates are available so you can  schedule one that works best for you within one year of the course start date.  Additional fees may  apply with changing your exam date. Exam cost is included with the course and you can register for the exam inside your course.

PREREQUISITE: This is an intermediate course. WSET Level 1 in Wine is not required prior to taking WSET Level 2 if you have foundational wine knowledge and/or you actively work in the wine industry and have a basic understanding of wine and wine-making.

IN-PERSON COURSE & WORKSHOP REFUNDS & TRANSFERS

Cancellations of confirmed in-person course enrollments and workshops are accepted up to 60 days before the start of the course. An administration fee of $50 plus the full cost of the study materials and exam fees will be deducted, and the remainder of the course fee refunded to the payee. Separate WSET exam cancellation/transfer rules apply.
Transfers of a confirmed enrollment to another course are accepted 60 days before the course start date with an administration fee of $50.

Cancellations less than 60 days before the in-person course start date or course no shows forfeit any refund/transfer options unless students can provide medical documentation. If medical documentation is provided, students can be transferred to a later course. No refunds will be applied.

Course Transfers cannot be carried forward to the next academic year (which commenced on January 1).

Students are highly encouraged to purchase separate travel insurance.
