About the Book
A Danish aristocrat, a war correspondent, a roving winemaker. Peter Vinding-Diers’ new autobiography details how a trip to South Africa in his early 20s became a catalyst for his life’s work as an innovator in the wine world.
He first captured the world’s attention in the 1980s, challenging wine academia in Bordeaux by championing wild yeasts. He then ventured to Bulgaria, Brazil, Spain, Chile and Hungary, earning the title ‘Flying Winemaker’ (he was one of the first). Shifting from wine consultant to winemaker, he has often leaned on his Viking ancestry to defy dogma — most recently taming his Montecarrubo vineyards to produce some of Italy’s finest Syrah.
