The seminar also features a deep dive into the terroir and subregions of Mendoza and will reveal that Argentine wine is finding the structure and style of each of its terroirs.

Argentine Gastronomic Experience

12:00 – 1:45

The history, the people and the food of Argentina form the cultural fabric of the country.  We’ll try additional wines and test the versatility of these wines to find the best marriages.

Blind Tasting Showdown:  Malbec—the Flagship of Argentina

2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Malbec has won its place as an ambassador, becoming the flagship grape of Argentina par excellence. A classic variety, known the world over, it is constantly being reinvented by a restless generation of viticulturists and winemakers willing to take Malbec beyond the limits of the imagination.
Hailing from France, once it arrived in Argentina, it developed its fresh, vibrant fruit profile and juicy tannins, the variety has become known for. Now it is planted around the world.
Participants in the blind tasting showdown will be presented with a series of wines from the around world and will be challenged to correctly identify the Malbec from Argentina. The first place winner of the blind tasting challenge will receive a 10-day, all expenses paid trip to Argentina! The second place winner will receive a $350 scholarship to the Napa Valley Wine Academy!
