Do you love to drink Italian wines? Do you work with Italian wines and want to help your customers navigate the complexities of Italian wines better? Join us for this interactive workshop taught by one of the leading Italian wine educators in the US, Geralyn Brostrom, managing director of Italian Wine Central (IWC). As a citizen of the Italian Republic, with over 20 years of working with Italian wine and countless trips to Italy, she knows the landscape and will bring it alive.
This one-day course will present the Italian classics in a new light, alongside up-and-coming wines as well as a few wines that could be on the radar very soon. Participants will have the opportunity to explore how these Italian wine styles fit onto restaurant wine lists today while building confidence in their knowledge of Italian wines.
- Tasting flights of key wine styles—red, white, sweet, and sparkling
- Wine list exercises that emphasize creating entries customers can understand
- Pronunciation of key Italian wine terms and names
At the conclusion of the day, attendees will take a short practice exam, using actual exam questions. The exam will be geared to help students determine which of the IWC programs might be best for them: Discovering Italian Wine or the Italian Wine Professional (IWP) certification. Both programs are online, as are the exams, and can be taken at students’ convenience.
