Before you even step foot in our classroom, we offer you a complete online pre-study module which you can access immediately after enrollment. This best prepares you for your Level 1 exam which takes place at the end of your in-class session. (FYI, we consistently have some of the highest WSET exam scores globally.)
This introductory wine certification course teaches students through sight, smell, and taste to understand more about wine. By the end of class, you’ll be able to taste wine using a systematic approach to tasting and be able to identify the main styles of wine. You’ll also learn the fundamental principles of food and wine pairing and be able to apply these to your food and wine choices. Napa Valley Wine Academy students also receive study pointers on the Level 1 WSET exam. Tasting is an essential part of studying for this course, and you will enjoy guided tastings of 6-8 wines perfectly suited for calibrating your palate to WSET's Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting. To obtain the WSET Level 1 Award Certificate in Wine, you will need to successfully pass the 30 multiple-choice exam. Exam orders are placed 21 days prior to the exam date and you cannot change the date once that order has been placed with the WSET. Results take 4-5 weeks to be released by WSET.
