My American Thanksgiving in Piemonte
Being an American expat in Italy isn’t always romantic. Even after 17 years, there are certain times like Thanksgiving that can make you feel especially nostalgic.
Anna Savino, who grew up in Sonoma and Napa, is now living the dream in another top wine growing region, Piemonte, Italy, where she has lived for the past 17 years. There she founded her own wine tour business, Italianna Wine Tours, where she educates visitors about the Barolo and Barbaresco region and shares hidden gems and discoveries with travelers from all around the world. It was a natural to want to share these finds with other wine lovers so she started the Barolo Wine Club where she curates fine, rare wines and provides educational materials from afar. She gained experience by working as a tasting room manager at a well known Barolo winery for 2 years where she learned the trade and completed level 2 Association of Italian Sommelier, as well as obtained her WSET level 2 and Discovering Italian Wine course with the Napa Valley WIne Academy. Anna is planning to continue her studies and never stops learning through daily visits to wineries and developing personal relationships with winemakers from the region. Anna is currently collaborating with the Napa Valley Wine Academy as an on-site Italian Wine Correspondent.
