Winemaking icon, Joel Aiken helped us launch our inaugural Wine(maker) Wednesday and we could not have asked for a better partner! Guests were treated to a guided tasting of four terroir-driven wines, while Joel shared his long history in Napa Valley and winemaking philosophy. Everyone agreed that it was difficult to pick a favorite wine in the line-up. His Fiddlestix Pinot Noir from the cool Santa Rita Hills appellation in Santa Barbara displayed beautiful floral notes, while the Sonoma Mountain Pinot Noir combined complexity with an earthiness that will develop for years to come. For those who know Joel Aiken from his 30+ years in Napa Valley, his wines, especially his Cabernet Sauvignon’s are the hallmark of oak integration. His Oakville Cabernet is elegant and supple with plenty of black fruit and a seamless finish. Our last wine in the tasting line-up, the Rutherford Cabernet, showcased what Morisoli vineyard fruit is all about; power, complexity, intrigue, and round tannins that keep you thinking about it for days to come.
